About Breakthrough

Closing the divide that matters now

Almost everyone in the UK is online now. That was supposed to close the digital divide, but the divide that matters today is different: it is between people who can use digital and AI tools to genuinely improve their economic position, and people who cannot.

Breakthrough exists to close that gap. We are a social enterprise working with adults from underserved communities, people carrying real structural barriers: justice system involvement, care experience, long-term unemployment, refugee backgrounds. Our mission is simple to say and hard to do: people and communities historically excluded from the digital economy gain the capability, confidence and agency to shape and benefit from an AI-enabled future.

The strongest evidence for our model is that we live it. Our CEO has lived experience of the justice system. Of the 700+ associates we have supported so far, more than 95% stay engaged with us after their programme ends. And 35% of our staff first joined Breakthrough as associates on our programmes: the people we trained now help run the organisation. We are not describing a theory. We are describing the team you would be joining.

The formal bits, briefly: Ofsted Expected Standard across all areas, Matrix Standard accredited, and a curriculum co-designed with IBM and CGI.

The Role

Delivery Executive, Adult Skills Programme

From October we are delivering an Adult Skills Programme on: confidence-building, digital skills, employability and AI literacy courses for adults across a region in the south west of England. You will be the face of that delivery. These courses are our mission in action: helping adults gain digital confidence and skills, and converting this into real economic options.

You will thrive here if you are a natural facilitator, passionate about education, and excited by what AI means for learners. A teaching background is welcome but not required; we care how you make people feel, not what your certificate says.

Blended delivery

Facilitate engaging sessions, mostly online with face-to-face community classes, for adults returning to learning.

Confidence building

Make anxious learners feel capable and help them convert new skills into real economic options.

Track progress

Agree individual learning plans, keep clear session records, and support every completer to take their next step.

AI literacy

Use AI tools confidently and model how learners can direct AI critically in their own lives.

Own recruitment

Build referral relationships with Jobcentre Plus, libraries, community organisations and housing associations.

Shape the programme

Contribute to curriculum growth and improvements based on feedback from associates and partners.

What you'll own

Facilitate, recruit, improve

You will own delivery and recruitment end to end. That means facilitating blended sessions, building each learner’s confidence, tracking progress, and keeping clear records that genuinely matter on this contract.

You will also own learner recruitment alongside delivery: building and maintaining referral relationships with Jobcentre Plus, libraries, community organisations and housing associations. This is crucial — learners do not arrive by themselves, and your network will make the programme succeed.

Beyond your day job, you will contribute to the programme’s growth: improving the curriculum, appearing in social media and video content, supporting impact reporting, and helping with recruitment and events.

What we need from you

You'll thrive here if

  • You are a natural facilitator. You read a room (including a virtual one), adapt on the spot, and make nervous people feel capable.
  • You are passionate about education and what AI means for it, and you already use AI tools confidently yourself.
  • You are organised and self-managing: you will work remotely much of the time and the paperwork genuinely matters on this contract.
  • You believe adults who have been failed by systems deserve teaching that treats them as capable.
  • You are happy to build referral networks and recruit learners, not just deliver to groups that are already signed up.
  • You want to grow a public profile and a broad skill set alongside your core delivery work.

Non-negotiables

  • You can make anxious adults feel confident and capable in a blended learning setting.
  • You already use AI tools confidently and can model that use for learners.
  • You are organised, self-managing, and comfortable keeping accurate records in a remote setup.

What success looks like

The bar for the first 12 months

  • Deliver confident, engaging blended sessions for adults, online and in community venues.
  • Build each learner’s confidence and keep clear records of progress, plans and next steps.
  • Create and maintain referral relationships that keep the programme fully subscribed.
  • Use AI tools fluently and critically in your own work and model that for learners.
  • Contribute to curriculum improvements and wider team impact stories that show the programme’s value.

Working here

The case for joining now

  • A small team where you get real ownership from week one. Nobody will micromanage you.
  • Transparent salary bands (above), flexibility on permanent vs freelance structure, and remote-first working with some in-person days.
  • We use AI in everything we do and we will invest in you being excellent with it.
  • If you are full-time permanent we offer 25 days annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays.
  • Flexible working options that encourage a great work-life balance.
  • Beyond your day job, you will grow a public profile and a broad skill set through social content, impact stories, recruitment and events.

Location

UK based

Working pattern

1-year full-time
